Watercolor Encaustics Paintings
Recently he has returned to its loose simplicity and began experimenting with encaustic which is a heated mixture of beeswax and crystalized tree sap. It was an ancient technique used by Egyptians as far back as the 6th century BC. By adding a layer to the wood mounted watercolor surface, Zimmer creates an object impervious to moisture. The small ‘tiles’ are composed in a grid format, with varied design components, which can be adapted to any space.

studied art at the Kansas City Art Institute, and the New York Studio School. He moved to Denver in the mid-nineties and began showing his painting at venues including Pirate Gallery, Rule Gallery (where he was represented in the late-nineties) the Denver Art Museum (paintings in permanent collection) Robischon Gallery, Arvada Center, Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Mizel Arts Center.
